Women are the ones that can have the children, and more children per family generally promotes a poverty trap in these developing countries. They also represent a large portion of the population not working that could be.

The freer a society is, the less equal men and women become in terms of careers; they’re free to choose the type of careers that suit their nature the most.
You’re never going to see gender equality in jobs such as construction working or nursing.
